The Tabletop Scribe Software supports the digitization of books with pages progressing from right-to-left.
A minor, metadata change will be required; with the physical handling of the book remaining similar to a left-to-right page progression book.
Set page-progression metadata
Before uploading the digital item, a page-progression value of rl must be set. This value can be set in various ways, depending on your work flow.
Table Top Scribe Software's Metadata Creation form
- On the Metadata Creation screen, click "Add Metadata", then "Other"; An additional field will be added to the metadata form.
- Input page-progression into the "KEY" field, and rl into its associated "OTHER" field.
Preloaded Items
Include a page-progression column on your .csv, with a value of rl for right-to-left page progression items. The page-progression value for left-to-right page progression items can remain empty.
Physical Handling
Right-to-left page progression books are placed and turned in the scribe's cradle the same way as a left-to-right page progression book. This means the book is shot in reverse. When placed properly in the cradle:
- The first spread consists of the color card on the left, with the back cover on the right.
- Turn the pages from the right side of the cradle, to the left side.
- The last spread consists of the front cover on the left, with the color card on the right.
Our software, further down the line will rectify the reversal and display the digital item properly once it is completed and its access formats are available online.
